Heritage and recognitions

The first house by Antoni Gaudí has been garnered recognitions from numerous national and international cultural organisations and tourist institutions.
1927

The addition made by the architect Joan Baptista Serra de Martínez on Antoni Gaudí's original house, receives the "Best Building Prize" awarded by the Barcelona City Council.

1962

Casa Vicens is included in the "Catalogue of Barcelona", the first document that the Government of Spain drafted with the goal of protecting its heritage, promoted by the municipal architect Adolf Florensa. This catalogue would later serve as the basis for the "Catalogue of Architectural, Historical and Artistic Heritage of the City of Barcelona" published in 1987.

1969

Through Decree 1794/1969, of 24 July, Casa Vicens is declared a Historical-Artistic Monument of national interest, along with other works by Antoni Gaudí.

1993

In accordance with Law 9/1993, of 30 September, on Catalan Cultural Heritage, Casa Vicens becomes a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN), in the historical monument category.

2005

On 15 July, Unesco includes Casa Vicens as a World Heritage Site in the section "Works of Antoni Gaudí", together with the crypt of Colonia Güell, Casa Batlló, the Nativity façade and crypt of Sagrada Familia. These sites are added to the buildings that had already been included in the World Heritage List in 1984: Park Güell, Palau Güell and Casa Milà.

2018

The Casa Vicens restoration project, carried out by the Martínez-Lapeña Torres and DAW Office architectural firms, is a finalist in the 60th FAD Awards Ceremony.

2019

The Casa Vicens restoration project is named a finalist in the prestigious EU⁠Mies Contemporary Architecture Award given by the European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation.

2020

Casa Vicens earns the "Best Landmark Spain 2020" prize awarded by Tiqets during the annual Remarkable Venue Awards.

2021

The Casa Vicens guided olfactory tour, created together with the Ernesto Ventós Foundation, earns the CETT Alimara Prize in the Through Experiences category as the best experience in the cultural and tourist sector.

2023

The revival of the Santa Rita tradition at Casa Vicens earns the Business with Social Value Award during the Barcelona Sustainable Tourism (BST) Awards Ceremony hosted by Turisme de Barcelona.
