Gaudí’s first house continues to show its support for grassroots sport

Extending a deal that started in 2023, Gaudí’s first house has renewed its sponsorship of the Club Esportiu Europa football school for two more seasons. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was previously the sponsor of the women’s first team in the 2022-2023 season and the men’s first team in 2021-2022.

The “CE Europa × Casa Vicens” school annually trains around 750 boys and girls between 4 and 14 years old in the U6, U8, U10, U12 and U14 categories, consolidating its place as one of the most important training spaces for grassroots football in the city.

The renewed agreement reaffirms Casa Vicens Gaudí’s commitment to grassroots sport and values-based education starting from childhood. In the words of its director, Emili Masferrer, “at Casa Vicens we firmly believe in the transformative power of culture and sport as drivers of social cohesion. With this agreement we aim to continue offering opportunities to grow, learn and share values such as effort, respect and teamwork”. The president of CE Europa, Hèctor Ibar, underlined “the importance of having collaborators who have continued to place their trust in us and who are committed to the connection between culture and sport, which are two sides of the same coin. Casa Vicens is a cultural benchmark in the city and for us it is very important for it to be linked with our club, even more so as Casa Vicens supports the school and forges bonds with the club’s families”.

This two-year sponsorship deal with Casa Vicens in the “CE Europa × Casa Vicens School” includes both the Casa Vicens Cup, held every year between April and June, and the School Party, which takes place at the end of each season.

The trajectories of Casa Vicens and Club Esportiu Europa are deeply linked to both Gaudí and Vila de Gràcia. Casa Vicens is the architect’s first great work and it is located in the heart of the old municipality of Gràcia, before the town was annexed to Barcelona. As for CE Europa, its history is also intertwined with Gaudí’s, given that its second pitch was located in front of Sagrada Família, in the square that currently bears the same name. Tradition has it that Gaudí himself frequently attended training sessions and matches while he was working on his masterpiece. After various relocations, the club settled definitively on Carrer de Sardenya in 1940, and in 1995 the club inaugurated the current Nou Sardenya, the tenth stadium in its hundred-year history.

With this renewed agreement, Casa Vicens Gaudí and Club Esportiu Europa reinforce their shared commitment to culture, education and sport, joining forces to promote local actions and collaboration that celebrate the shared values of both institutions.
