Casa Vicens, the first house designed by Antoni Gaudí, offers its spaces for holding events and private celebrations. The house, arranged over four floors, provides room hire for small to medium sized private events. The versatility of the spaces makes them ideal for events, such as dinners and cocktails to meetings and presentations.

Ground floor

The jewel of Casa Vicens

The ground floor is the heart of Casa Vicens and the place for enjoying the complete essence of Gaudí’s masterpiece. Through three interconnecting spaces: dining room, gallery and smoking room, an exuberant stage is created, rich in decorative and ornamental elements. A floor to admire the collection of paintings by Francesc Torrescassana, the virtuous papier mâché work or the most iconic room in Casa Vicens: the smoking room, where the honeycomb work on the ceiling and the decoration transport us to an exotic oriental oasis.

First floor

The most intimate and private

Stepping onto the first floor of Casa Vicens is to discover the Vicens family’s most intimate spaces: the bedrooms, the bathroom and the small lounge. A journey around Gaudí’s first house, highlighted by its decoration, finishes and ceramic ceilings. The big surprise on this floor is found in the small lounge, which is covered by a false dome created using the “trompe l’oeil” technique. A floor with diaphanous spaces that can work separately or as interconnected rooms.

Second floor

Space and versatility

An original diaphanous structure which Gaudí designed following the constructive tradition of domestic Catalan architecture and which could indicate that this was the space set aside for the service of the house. What stands out is the impressive covering of exposed, slanted wooden beams and more than 40 windows which create an interesting play of light and shade while at the same time bringing warmth to the space. A highly versatile room with a welcoming atmosphere, ideal for presentations and large dinners.

FAQs

  • To hold an event, the entire house must be hired as there are no specific spaces dedicated to events.

  • The house can be hired out of visiting hours, or, if it is within visiting hours, it would be a half-day hire (morning or afternoon) or a full-day hire.
  • The maximum capacity is 180 people.
  • The largest space on offer in the house is on the second floor and has a maximum capacity of 70 people in the same space.

  • The house has several spaces available for events: the dining room on the first floor for small scale events, the first floor with the evening area and the second floor where there is a larger space with a permanent exhibition. An information sheet about the spaces is available to download.
  • Firstly, a provisional blocking of the space is made to guarantee the booking. To formalise this booking, we request 30% of the payment three months prior to the event date and the remaining 70% two weeks before the event. If the event is within thirty days, 100% of the payment must be made in order to formalise the booking.
  • Casa Vicens has a preference agreement with Hofmann catering, who also run the café in the house during visiting hours.
  • Any modification must be sent in writing and will be accepted upon receiving approval from the Casa Vicens team.
  • The cancellation policy states that if the client wishes to cancel the event less than one month prior to the event, they must pay 100% of the cost stipulated in the contract, between one and three months, 75% and between three and six months, 30%.
  • It includes welcome staff, security and cleaning staff throughout the event and a coordinator.
  • There is no kitchen available, nor adequate space for cooking. Hot cupboards and ovens may be used.
