The book is now on sale at the laCapell shop in the house museum

Casa Vicens, the first house designed by Antoni Gaudí and a house museum since 2017, has become the latest star in the “Little Stories” collection, illustrated by Pilarín Bayés (Vic, 1941), one of the most renowned and longest-running children’s series in Catalonia, published by Editorial Mediterrània.

The book, published in Catalan, Spanish and English, is now available at the physical shop of the house museum and also through the laCapell online shop.

This illustrated book, intended for families, schools and lovers of architecture, offers a visual and narrative approach to the origin of Gaudí’s genius through the details, materials and relationship with nature that define Casa Vicens. Inspired by the house’s rich iconography, such as the natural forms, the vivid colours and elements such as the fountain that creates a rainbow effect or the floral motifs of the tiles, the book invites us to discover the essence of Modernisme and how Gaudí’s work evolved from his first house onwards.

“Illustrating the first house Gaudí built was a gift, and this book is my way of thanking him for a work that continues to inspire so many architects, decorators and art lovers many years later,” confesses Pilarín Bayés in a video shared by Casa Vicens on its social media platforms.

This latest “Little Story” is a unique piece that showcases the site’s cultural and artistic heritage, enhancing the experience of visiting Casa Vicens and bringing Gaudí’s architecture closer to younger generations through Pilarín’s iconic visual and narrative language.
