  • From 15 to 21 August, Casa Vicens will once again offer free activities in the streets and a discount on tickets to visit Gaudí’s first house.

Gaudí’s first house has been participating in the Festa Major de Gràcia for the last eight years, organising free family activities in the streets, offering discounts on tickets and taking part in the traditional decorated streets competition organised by the Fundació Festa Major de Gràcia.

The names of this year’s winners will be announced on Tuesday, 19 August, in Plaça de la Vila, including the special prize awarded by Casa Vicens to the street that best represents the selected theme. The winners will be able to make a special visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Carrer de les Carolines.

From 15 to 21 August tickets for individual visits and guided tours will be available at a 20% discount with the code FMGRACIA. To get the discount you must use the code FMGRACIA when shopping online at casavicens.org. Casa Vicens is open every day, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Free family workshops

This year, Casa Vicens Gaudí is unveiling a new family workshop where participants can create their own game of “Tic-tac-toe” on paper by painting their counters with the house’s iconic carnations and chimneys. The entire exterior of this World Heritage Site is covered with characteristic tiles bearing the carnation. According to one of Gaudí’s first biographers, Joan Bergós, the architect found this flower on the land where he was going to build the house and adopted it as an ornamental motif for the ceramics. On the other hand, the chimneys that crown the house with their chequerboard white and green tiles are also an iconic image of Carrer de les Carolines.

The following streets will host this activity from 15 to 21 August: Mozart, Joan Blanques de Baix, Tordera, Plaça de la Vila or Providència, among others. The workshop will take place every day in two shifts, at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. No registration required. We recommend consulting the Festa Major programme to confirm the street and timetable, as well as following the @casavicens Instagram profile to find out about each day's agenda.
