Casa Vicens becomes the first museum in Barcelona to obtain the Safe Tourism Certified seal

  • Gaudí’s first house is the first museum in the city of Barcelona to obtain this seal created by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE)
  • The seal certifies compliance with the maximum hygienic and sanitary guarantees for workers and visitors alike

Last Friday, 17 July, the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) awarded Casa Vicens Gaudí the Safe Tourism Certified seal, which certifies successful implementation of the safety, prevention, hygiene and sanitary protocols established by the ICTE in the house-museum. Thus, Gaudí’s first house -audited by TÜV Rheinland- has become the first museum in Barcelona to obtain this certificate, making it a safe place to visit.

The many measures taken by this UNESCO World Heritage site include reducing its capacity to one third, strictly managing the amount of tickets every 20 minutes and requiring their full purchase in advance through the website or by phone. This arrangement prevents queues and respects the physical distance of protocol security. In addition to the increase in cleaning and disinfection throughout the building, a unique tour path has been created so that visitors can independently follow the audio guide that is easily accessible from their mobile device. Disinfecting carpets and hydro-alcoholic gel dispensation areas have also been placed along the route and visitors are reminded of all the steps taken to deal with COVID-19.

This seal is a guarantee of security already enjoyed by the Barcelona Zoo, the Museu de les Ciències i el Hemisfèric in Valencia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, as well as some hotels, restaurants and amusement parks across Spain.
