Casa Vicens organises the first wikimarathon about Gaudí

A group of Wikipedians will spend the evening of next Saturday, 21 April at Casa Vicens, getting to know the house and its history. The activity is being promoted in partnership with Amical Wikimedia, an organisation that promotes Wikipedia and free knowledge of Catalan both online and offline, and the Art History and Contemporary Design Research Group (GRACMON), which has become a benchmark for the study of Modernisme.

The event aims to expand and create articles about the work of Antoni Gaudí on Wikipedia, as well as to enhance the visibility of the work of the volunteers contributing to the project. It therefore supports Casa Vicens’ firm objective to help to spread the work of Antoni Gaudí as rigorously as possible, but also strives to make the content accessible and put it within the reach of people from all walks of life. Thus, the participants will have access to a specific bibliography and material on the work of Antoni Gaudí.

Articles that are more likely to be expanded include those of Casa Vicens, the Lampposts of Plaza Real, the Fountain of Hercules and the Compañía Transatlántica Española (Spanish Line) Pavilion. It will also be possible to photograph all the nooks and crannies of the house and upload them to Wikimedia.

The wikimarathon will be held in the Document Centre at Casa Vicens and places are only available for 12 people. To participate, you will need to register in advance at this link or by sending an email to: comunicacio@wikimedia.cat or press@casavicens.org.
